Marko Sosič

Marko Sosič is a theatre and film director born in 1958 in Trieste. His literary path began in 1991 with the collection of novellas entitled Rosa na steklu and advanced six years later with Balerina, balerina, a highly praised novel that won him the Vstajenje Award, listed him among the five finalists for the Kresnik Award, and included him in the European project 'The 100 Slovene novels'. After the novel Tito, amor mio (2005), which was also nominated for the Kresnik and the Prešeren Foundation Award, Sosič returned to writing short stories with his collection Iz zemlje in sanj (2011). In the same year, he also published memoirs entitled Tisoč dni, dvesto noči, describing his life and work as creative director of the SNT Nova Gorica between 1991 and 1994.
