Ilija Trojanow

Born in 1965 in Sofia, Ilija Trojanow emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1971 but moved to Kenya the following year, where his father got a job as an engineer. He stayed there until 1984, having attended a German school, and graduated in Nairobi. After that he went to study law and ethnology in Munich. His literary breakthrough came in 2006 with his novel Der Weltensammler (The Collector of Worlds). Ilija Trojanow currently resides in Wien, but has lived and worked all over the world.
